Aftermarket Mitsubishi intercooler kits lower the temperature output of the compressed hot air from the turbo(s) and feeds the cooler air into the intake. Since colder air contains more oxygen, and gasoline requires oxygen in order to ignite, therefore having the optimal air / fuel ratio can be critical in determining the maximum engine's performance output.
