Aftermarket Audi 900 intercooler kits lower the temperature output of the compressed hot air from the turbo(s) and feeds the cooler air into the intake. As a result, the engine performs much more efficiently. Since colder air contains more oxygen, and gasoline requires oxygen in order to ignite, therefore having the optimal air / fuel ratio can be critical in determining the maximum engine's performance output. The intercooler serves the purpose of cooling the air temperature through a radiator-like core just before the intake.
