There are two major types of car exterior lighting to think about when you’re planning on an upgrade: functional and fancy. Functional lighting parts are generally broken down into two areas themselves. Headlights, the main light source from any car, provide drivers with clear vision even at night, and are the most obvious lights a car has equipped. Tail lights, the rear side light sources, alert other drivers to the speed and whereabouts of your vehicle.
Fancy car exterior lights are not needed as the functional ones are, but they can make a car look hotter and newer. Aftermarket exterior lights can be hooked up on the underside of a vehicle (undercar lights), or can be added in strips around the body of the car (lighting strips). Though not legal in every jurisdiction, undercar lights and other exterior lights that are used only for stylish effect make not serve a purpose, but they do make a car look hipper and more mainstream than cars using only their main headlights and tail lights at night.
